Doing good's never been so easy!

Print Friendly

This Saturday (May 8th) there are two easy things we can do to radically improve the world around us.  Please consider adding them to your TO-DO list!

With the buzz of Earth Day still lingering in the air, Hamilton County Environmental Services/Hamilton County Recycles is making it uber-easy for you start a daily composting routine.  They will be selling “THE EARTH MACHINE”, one of the best backyard composting bins available, to Hamilton County residents at a ridiculously low price.

It retails for $100, but through this special sale, you can purchase one for ONLY $35! Quantities are limited, and the offer is first come, first serve.  You can purchase these at one of two locations: Cincinnati State & Technical College on Central Parkway (that’s where we’ll be!) or at Princeton High School on Chester Road.  Both locations will be open 9am – 2pm.  You’ll find all the details on Hamilton County Recycles’ website and learn everything you ever wanted to know about composting but were too afraid to ask on their blog here.

And also Saturday, all across the country, the National Association of Letter Carriers are working with the United States Postal Service for this year’s STAMP OUT HUNGER campaign.  Your mail carrier will be collecting non-perishable food items from everyone on their respective routes.  Image the amount of food that could be gathered if everyone in America simply set out the fixings for a meal!  Our food pantries and banks would be stocked to the brim and families hit so hard in these tough times could rest a little easier.

To participate, you simply need to place your food donations at your mailbox on Saturday, May 8th before your carrier delivers your mail – they’ll take care of the rest.  They do ask that you NOT include any items which have expired or those in glass containers. Other sponsors for this terrific and convenient outreach include: Campbell’s, AFL-CIO, United Way, ValPak and the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association.

So basically you can CHANGE OUR WORLD before lunchtime on Saturday!  Join me, won’t you?

Editor’s Note: While we try our best to be accurate, sometimes event details/information can change. We highly recommend our readers visit the website of the business or event we’ve written about before taking any action.

We always participate in Stamp Out Hunger. My Agency works for the FreestoreFoodbank so they are a non-profit close to my heart! Thanks for sharing this Amy.
