Restaurant Review: Barleycorn’s

June 24, 2010 By FFCStaff

In the summertime my family is always on the lookout for fun places to eat outside.  I love eating outside with the four kids…there’s a lot less worry about how much noise they are making, how much of a mess they are making, and there’s so much more for them to look at.  One of our favorite local (and family owned) restaurants is Barleycorn’s (we go to the Lakeside Park location, but there are 3 locations to choose from).  Inside the restaurant there is a bar, and always some sort of sporting event playing on all of their many televisions, and there are plenty of tables, both upstairs and downstairs.  We prefer the patio, it is always bustling & fun, it is partially shaded, and there is plenty of seating (tables with umbrellas for even more shade!).  Their menu has a lot of variety, my favorites have always been the buffalo tenders, the potato pancakes, and oh, the burgers!  Their burgers are delicious!  And the kids menu is great, the meals are very reasonably priced (Max loves the cheese pizza – $2.95) and there are 7 items to choose from for the kids, plus a wide variety of sides!  So if you are looking for somewhere to sit outside and soak up the sounds and sights of summer while eating some very tasty food, might I suggest Barleycorn’s…you won’t be sorry!

We used to go to Barleycorns often. We loved the taco salad but it is not the same as it used to be. Smaller portions, higher prices and the last time I was there (a month ago at Lakeside) I ordered beef taco salad and it arrived with what I thought no beef. I moved the lettuce and saw a trace of beef. The manage explained they use 4 oz of beef. Believe me it was less than an oz. Sent it back and ordered my 2nd fav meal there(grouper) It was terrible. BEWARE OF BARLEYCORN’s

We live near the 5 mile location. It’s always packed and has a great outdoor seating area!
