Shannan does such a great job each month covering the local library happenings and last month we checked out a couple of them. One of our favorites was Bedtime Storytime at the Clifton Branch. Led by Children’s Librarian Eric Davis, the whole family laughed and sang, we had a terrific time. And since the Clifton Branch is located in one of our favorite areas, we headed down early and stayed late to take in two of our favorites before and after.
First, dinner at Ambar India. Ambar was one of the first places Doug and I went to back in those dating days, so it’s a sentimental favorite. Bright walls and decorations to keep the kids entertained, it is very family friendly and reasonably priced. We love introducing P to as many varieties of food as we can. She loves Saag Paneer and Ambar’s is one of the best in the city. Service is fast so we made the 7pm storytime with no problem.
Eric’s Bedtime Storytime was a big hit with all the kids and even the adults were welcome to do a little hokie-pokie! And everyone showed up in their favorite pj’s (which makes bedtime when you return home all the easier!).
After storytime we header where else? GRAETER’S! Conveniently located right across the street, who can say no, eh? Since it was so close to bedtime, we opted to share a sundae – which in hindsight was probably still too much sugar. Next time we go, maybe the ice cream before storytime…lol, but it was so tasty!
It’s making memories out of seemingly average things that count. P still talks about our “date night” – our own version of dinner and movie (oh, and ice cream of course!). We’ll definitely head back this month for Eric’s great storytime, the Saag and the sweets are just icing on the cake!
Next Bedtime Storytime is January 20th at 7pm – and check the Cincinnati Library’s complete listing for more fun all month long!

the library is a great way to teach your kids to make smart choices and to teach responsibility (returning on time). To add to the other great things reading with your children entails. and it’s free! Use allowences to pay late fee’s (when its the kids fault obviously) so they are more responsible about returning the books and learn about money (and bills!) too!
