Winter Wonderettes at Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati – GIVEAWAY!

I was introduced to Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati by my good friend Sharon, when she was serving on the Board for The Children’s Law Center.  Each year, the Center hosts a fundraiser at ETC during their Christmas show.  That year, Alice in Wonderland was P’s very first theater visit and we’ve been diehard fans ever since.  The theater is historic; small and intimate – there is no bad seat in the house and never a bad show.

But it’s far more than a wonderful place to see live theater.  Ensemble has been the creative heart of Over-The-Rhine for over twenty-five years.  They are a constant force in the betterment of Cincinnati, hosting a coat drive each December to help the less fortunate, offering free performances children and OTR residents throughout the year.

Their Fairy Godmother program welcomes 1500 kids each Christmas season to see a joy-filled family friendly performance. After the show, the teachers of these students are sent back with a visual arts project for their classroom.  The projects help reinforce the positive message of the performance the children have just seen.  After last year’s performance of Cinderella (love love love that show), the students were challenged to express “What is beautiful to you?”.   You can read much more about the super off-stage work ETC does, like Adopt-A-School and education outreach like their Prelude Program on their site.

The talent at ETC is unmatched – brilliantly funny people, amazing voices, outstanding costumes. I’ve have loved every performance we’ve seen there and I can’t wait to see more.  After the last two shows of the 2010-2011 season, my sister Valerie and I decided to take it up a notch for this coming one and become season ticket holders.  Only problem is that the new season doesn’t begin til the Fall, so we were left with a creative void.

But then I heard ETC was throwing us a Summer bone!  The Wonderettes, who wowed audiences a couple years ago, are back and better than ever with Winter Wonderettes a Christmas in July show that opens TOMORROW (6/24).  To say I’m excited to see it would be an understatement.  And while seeing a fabulous show, I get to do a little good because they are hosting a food drive throughout the entire run of the show.  The items collected will be donated to the Freestore Foodbank.

ETC’s generosity knows NO bounds, so they’ve given FFC TWO Family Four Packs of tickets to see Winter Wonderettes at a performance of the winners’ choice.  Because  we have two packs, we’re giving everyone two chances to win, do either or both of the following to FA-LA-LA-LA-LA you’re way through 98 degree weather this summer.

Chance #1 – Visit Ensemble Theatre’s website and check out the line up for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.  Leave a comment here telling us which upcoming show has your curiosity peaked.

Chance #2 – Visit Ensemble Theatre’s Facebook Page; LIKE it  and then come back and tell us you’ve done so.

We’re doing this giveaway quickly so the winners have as many performance times to choose from as possible, so we’ll draw the winner on Saturday morning (6/25) at 9:07 am!
