Super Sunday Family Programming at BCM

I’ve told our readers before how much my family LOVES the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park when I wrote about the train show in a previous post.  Behringer-Crawford Museum is a great place to explore with children, with lots of hands-on learning experiences for them!  My kids love to hang out on the giant steam boat, and watch the model trains from inside the exhibit.  And while they are exploring, I am learning more about our area’s history.  It’s a great place for adults and children to learn!  If you have been wanting to check out the museum but haven’t yet, here’s your chance.  They’ve started a new series called “Super Sunday Family Programming” and on one Sunday a month they will be open to the public for free!  Here’s more information from the museum’s press release:

Super Sunday Family Programming, brought to you by the Behringer-Crawford Museum:

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s super Sunday at the Behringer-Crawford Museum! Behringer-Crawford Museum presents its “Super Sunday Family Programming” Series funded by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. One Sunday a month, BCM will host free admission and programming to the public. The engaging and entertaining programs highlight and celebrate the arts and culture of the Ohio River Valley.
Super Sundays kicks off July 10, 2011 with an Old Fashioned American Celebration with the Sons of the American Revolution’s rifle squad in period costumes, and old fashioned picnic-games.
Events are not only educational but fun for all ages. For example, in September Steamboats’ A’comin’ 200 Years celebrates the bicentennial of steamboats with a lecture by University of Louisville Professor Allen Share and a steamboat race for kids!  Start the new year off with Ice Ice Mammoth. Long before there was Vanilla Ice and Ice Ice Baby there were huge and hairy mammoths; hear their story plus that of Big Bone Lick where they once roamed. And make your own fossil!
“Super Sunday Family Programming” ends June 10, 2012 with Bard in the Park featuring a performance from the Northern Kentucky Home Schooled Company and a sword fight demonstration with Northern Kentucky University Professor John Baca.
Super Sundays are sure to be faster than a speeding bullet, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys! The dates are as follows:
July 10 Old Fashioned American Celebration
Aug. 14 Beatles versus Beetles
Sept. 25 Steamboats’ A’comin’ 200 Years
Oct. 9 Day of the Dead
