JM Barrie’s Peter Pan at The Carnegie {Contest Closed}

This contest is closed. Congratulations go out to FFC reader, Heather Carter! Thanks to everyone who entered.

The Carnegie in Covington has announced that it’s next Carnegie in Concert production will be a silent film with live music. Now, it’s not just any silent film…. we’re talking about JM Barrie’s Peter Pan, a story that resonates with children of all generations.

With all the high-tech gadgetry out there, we like the idea of taking a step back and bringing the kids out to experience a film in a such a classic way.  There’s something magical about an old black and white movie, reading the words on the screen, having live music in the theatre. It’s a really unique experience.

Description from The Carnegie

Captain Hook, the Lost Boys, Peter Pan and Wendy first leapt from the storybook to the screen in 1924, with the actors portraying them chosen by creator J.M. Barrie himself. Misplaced for more than 70 years, that cinematic treasure and an accompanying contemporary harp score receive their first screening and performance in the Greater Cincinnati area next month.

Soar to Neverland with Peter Pan and the Darling children as Seattle area harpist Leslie McMichael unfurls her lush and enchanting original score to the 1924 silent film release. Magnificently restored after having been lost for generations, “Peter Pan” is a cinematic gem and a spellbinding musical adventure for all boys and girls and those who never grew up.

Here’s a preview we found on YouTube:

Tickets to Carnegie in Concert performance  are $16 – $19 and are available at TheCarnegie Box Office, open Tuesday through Friday, 12pm – 5pm, online at www.thecarnegie.com, or by phone at (859) 957-1940.
