I think I’m one of the best singers ever – that is when I’m driving in my car with Journey blasting in the background beckoning me to belt out “Don’t Stop Believing”. But we all know that solo car singing versus singing in front of a live audience are two completely different things. If there are any aspiring singers ready to be a part of a fun vocal competition then enter the 9th annual Mason Idol competition. Mason Idol video submissions are currently being accepted by Festivals of Mason until August 10 at 5 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate. The finale of the competition will take place at the Mason Heritage & Bicycle Festival that is held in the streets of downtown Mason on August 18. This free family festival will start off with a bicycle decorating contest, huge parade and then you can enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, fun activities for the kids and much more. This year they have expanded to include a “Kid Zone, Teen Zone, Sweet Treat, Food Court” and more. They will also crown Little Miss Heritage at the festival (the pageant is open to girls entering the second grade this Fall in the Mason School District and the judging is based on personality).

Best of luck to all those who enter and I hope to see you at the Mason Heritage Festival this year! Also, thanks to the City of Mason for being the presenting sponsor for the festival as well as all the other sponsors who bring this wonderful and free festival to Mason every year. We truly appreciate it.
Above are scenes from the 2010 Heritage Festival – my daughter was part of the Little Miss Heritage Pageant that year and some of the parade marchers included local youth performer’s theater group, Acting Up and the Cosmos Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. We’ll be marching with the Girl Scouts again this year too.
When not blogging for Family Friendly Cincinnati, you can find Kristin writing on her personal blog, MasonMetu (from me to you).
Disclaimer: MasonMetu will also be attending the Heritage Festival and will have a booth set up in the Kids’ Zone provided by Festivals of Mason for helping to spread the word about this upcoming event.

Aw, this was an exceptionally nice post. Taking a few
minutes and actual effort to make a really good article… but what
can I say… I put things off a lot and don’t seem to get nearly anything done.
