Today we are happy to welcome Gina Holt with the Kenton County Library. The Library is part of an exciting viral video contest with other libraries in the state (Kentucky) and they need our help! Check it out.

The Kentucky Public Libraries Association posted a challenge: to create an original music video at the Library. The Association really only gave us a few rules. We had to make a reference to a superhero (see the Batman T-shirt), give a nod to Melville Dewey (we mention Dewey a few times), use the American Library Association @Your Library logo and have someone dressed in yellow (see Booker wearing his yellow jacket).
The Kenton County Public Library Music Video committee, made up of six staff members, got to work. We met, discussed a variety of ideas and decided to use each other’s strengths. Two staff members got together and wrote the song; “Waiting for You” (the Vampire’s Lament)“. Once we had the lyrics, the story wrote itself. It’s about a vampire who is trapped in the Library and torn between different shelves while missing his girlfriend. Vampire books are huge right now so we thought this would be fun.
It was fun! I recruited friends, family and staff members to participate in the video. We all gave up a Sunday evening to work on it. We had an incredible time. I do Public Relations everyday but this was my first music video. The Library is lucky to have very talented staff members who have camera skills, music and theater backgrounds, writing skills and people who are willing to do whatever is needed. We are also lucky to have such great volunteers.
Now we need the help of all our friends to make the video go viral. This will be an easy task if everyone shares it with their friends on Twitter, Facebook and email. Be sure to hit like on Youtube!
