Greater Cincinnati Family Fun This Weekend (November 3-5)

Are your kids still on a sugar high?  Or are they on candy lock down?  If you are looking for great stuff to do this weekend after all of the fun of Halloween, we have the scoop!

Saturday:

Happen Inc Happen Session: “PIZZERIA HAPPENINO” on Saturday 11:00am-11:45am is cooking up a great clay art session with Happen’s character, Mr. Happenino. Fix the perfect pizza and learn how to build clay slab objects as the Happen space turns into Happen’s Pizzeria.  Your clay pizza will be ready to show off in about a 2 weeks following the session.

Linton Peanut Butter and Jam Sessions presents The Mozart Wind Effect: Come hear and get to know the oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, and piano through the music of Mozart. You won’t want to blow off this concert!  Heritage Presbyterian Church in Mason 6546 S. Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040 

 

Need help coming up with simple but creative ideas for decorating your home for Christmas on a budget? Make plans to attend a special Christmas Decorating Lunch & Learn event at the Warren County History Center in Lebanon, Ohio on November 3, 2012 from 11am-2pm: Have Your Home Tell a Story for Christmas.

Celebrate the holidays by making ornaments with your family at Brazee Street Studio! Bring your parents, grandparents, siblings, and children to this introductory class Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm (Open House style) and create fused glass ornaments for each other or someone you love. Open to all ages (we suggest 4+), kids young and old! Ornaments fired and ready in time for the holidays. No experience necessary.   $15/ornament

Whole Foods Market Cincinnati hosts Kids Can Cook Too! every Saturday at 10am. It’s a fun free cooking class and a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen.

The Great Amazing Adventure Race returns to Cincinnati this weekend!  The Cincinnati leg of the Great Amazing Race for Youth that is scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd at DeVou Park in Covington.  Kids in grades 1-12 pair up with a parent, grandparent, sibling or mentor and compete against other teams in a in a series of fun challenges patterned after the show The Amazing Race.   The race will kick off at 2:00 pm. Cost is $40.00 for team of two.  Maximum of 100 teams, first to register basis.

Like board games? Boone County Library’s Burlington Pike location hosts Family Game Day from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Head to the Cincinnati Library’s Pleasant Ridge location at 2pm for a free performance by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Trio.

Hamilton County Park District invites children to be Crafty Critters at a craft making class at Woodland Mound at 2pm. Cost is $1 plus vehicle permit.

Sunday

Monster making workshop!  Visit Broadhope Art Collective in Cheviot Ohio for their first offical workshop is Sunday at 2:00pm.  Sign up online or in person during normal business hours.  Sew your very own plush monster with Abby and Tara.  Creat double sided monsters with a blank “draw your own” canvas on one side and a soft, snuggly fur on the other.  No experience necessary.  Recommended for ages 8 and up and an adult is encouraged to stay to assist anyone under the age of 12.

Head to the Bell Event Centre for the Clay Alliance’s 14th Annual Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser for the FreestoreFoodbanks’ Kids Café program. Enjoy a delicious meal and take home a handmade bowl crafted by local artists. All Weekend:

Date Night (grownups only..)- Head to The Carnegie for a chilling psychological thriller – UNDER A RED MOON - Friday at 7:3opm, Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm.  Tickets are $16-$23.

 Lakota East Thunder Hawk Theatre presents Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day all weekend at Lakota East High School. Tickets are just $10.

    I just checked out the Clifton Cultural Arts Center’s website and the website says The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is next Sunday…

    I can speak from personal experience – the Monster Making Workshop at Broadhope Art Collective is so cool. I did it as a mother-daughter birthday party with some friends and we had a blast! Got some cute monsters and sewing skills out of it, too.
