Here’s a fun idea for family night out — > this Friday, September 20th The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center (Where FFC co-founder Shannan works) opens its 2010-11 Theatre Series with the musical BIG RIVER | The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
If you didn’t read this book when you were younger, BIG RIVER is the musical adaptation of the classic Mark Twain novel that follows Huck Finn along the Mississippi as he helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom.
From The Carnegie’s Website: Twain’s seminal folktale bursts colorfully onto the stage with a down-home score by the legendary Roger Miller and memorable characters including the adventurous Tom Sawyer and conniving con men the King and Duke. Winner of seven Tony Awards, including “Best Musical” and “Best Original Score,” BIG RIVER is a spirited celebration of pure Americana.
With tickets priced from $19 – $26 per person, and a cast featuring eleven actors under the age of 22, this is one musical that’s got “family friendly” written all over it. Talk about great inspiration for the young aspiring actor/actress at your house!
Tickets to BIG RIVER are available at The Carnegie Box Office by calling (859) 957-1940, or online at www.thecarnegie.com.
