IT’S STORYTIME!
SAT JAN 28 2012 | 10:30 AM
John Morris Russell, conductor
Bring your imagination! JMR, the “Maestro Musical Storytellers,” shares his favorite childhood fables, including Saint-Saëns’ beloved Carnival of the Animals, accompanied by original children’s poetry, and excerpts from Stravinsky’s Firebird with visuals on the big screen—performed in full sound and spectacle by your Cincinnati Pops. And you won’t want to miss the special cameo appearance by the international superstar pianist Lang Lang! Come at 9:30 before any Lollipops concert for an “instrument petting zoo,” crafts and games in the pre-concert Kids’ Zone!

My favorite fable is the Boy who cried Wolf. Not for the truth and lesson in the story but because when I was little, my mom told me this fable after I told a lie. I looked as if I was listening intently. When she very seriously asked if I understood, I said “Yes… but if I was that boy, I would have just run into the house.” The things kids say…
