It’s like meeting a celebrity, and it’s the best kind, because it’s one that fosters a love for reading.

Three popular children’s authors are coming to town and will be stopping by the store to read copies of their books to children in attendance as well as to answer their questions about their favorite characters and autograph copies of their books.
Thursday, April 25 — Sherri Duskey Rinker, author of the New York Times #1 best-selling book, “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site,” will be at blue manatee from 4-5pm to read and sign her newest book, “Steam Train, Dream Train.” The book is available for pre-order through the blue manatee website (www.bluemanateebooks.com) or by calling the store at (513) 731-2665. Monday, April 29 – May 5, 2013 — blue manatee is encouraging Tri-State residents to join them in “unplugging” for Screen-Free Week, which encourages parents and their children to unplug from their TVs, computers and numerous other handheld devices and step outside to enjoy nature and spending time together.
To kick off Screen-Free Week, blue manatee will host Caldecott Medal-winner Chris Raschka and bestselling author Bob Staake on Saturday, April 27 from 10:30 – 11:30am for signings of their newest books, “Everyone Can Learn to Ride a Bicycle” and “Bluebird.” The signing will also include a reading of both books plus attendees who arrive early can watch as the duo create a special work of art for the blue manatee store window!

Friday, May 10 — Dav Pilkey, author of the best-selling Captain Underpants series, will be at blue manatee from 4:30-5:30pm to talk with fans and to sign books. It is important to note that this event will be limited to the first 150 fans who purchase hard copies of any of the following three books by Pilkey, “Captain Underpants and the Revolting Revenge of the Radioactive Robo-Boxers,” “Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers,” or “Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers.”
Books are available for pre-order by calling (513) 731-2665 or by stopping by the store. Line numbers will be issued with purchase. Fans with line numbers may also bring two books from their personal collection to be signed. The event is anticipated to sell out.
