The 27th Season for ARTrageous is upon us. There are four remaining performances and all of them sound really great! I’m sad we missed the “Wizard of Oz” performance this past weekend. If you attended, please let our readers know if you and your kids enjoyed it.
ARTrageous is a great way to either introduce your children to various types of performing art or to share with them various kinds of performing art. Regardless of the reason for attending, each show is sure to delight both you and your children.
“The tri-state’s premier performing arts series for kids features a fantastic lineup of puppets, plays, marionettes, music, comedy, science, and more! Join us for this exciting introduction to the arts as they delight, inspire, and awaken the imagination.”
Here’s the performances being offered this season:
November 16, 2013 — Cincinnati Ballet “In Step”
Dancers from the Cincinnati Ballet will provide an exciting peek into a typical day in the life of a professional ballet dancer, and perform excerpts from classical repertoire. Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in the action, learning basic ballet positions.
January 18, 2014 — Juggler Matt Jergens
“Juggler Matt Jergens will delight audiences with his fast-paced, high-energy show. He will have people of all ages laughing and cheering as he uses a variety of juggling props and household items to defy gravity in a way never before seen.” This sounds like a great way to spend a few hours on a cold January day!
February 8, 2014 — ArtReach: Sleeping Beauty
Who believes in fairy tales? I do! If you and your kids do as well, this might be the show for you. “An enchanted spindle curses Sleeping Beauty to one hundred years of sleep. Although protected by her fairy godmother, will anyone be able to save her? ArtReach brings the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault to life in this enchanting adaptation. ArtReach is the touring division of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.”
March 15, 2014 — Doktor Kaboom! Look Out! Science is Coming!
I know my two kids will not want to miss one! “Join Doktor Kaboom! for a sidesplitting journey of increasingly spectacular, and often successful, experiments and demonstrations. Doctor Kaboom! will take the audience on an amazing educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences.”
