Fun Runs and Walks in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati
Looking for a fun run or walk in Northern Kentucky or Cincinnati this summer to do with the kids or other family members? Family Friendly Cincinnati has a great list of runs in our area. Support a great cause, carry a pumpkin on the entire run or celebrate Independence Day with flare! Here is your hook up for fun runs and walks around town!
June 6th Running for the Spirit of Recovery 5K Run and Walk is an evening 5K to benefit Transitions, Inc., which provides treatment for those with substance use disorders. Race starts and ends near Lagoon Saloon at 859 Elm Street in Ludlow, Ky at 7:00pm. After party at Lagoon Saloon. Registration details on the website.
June 7th NKYHatesHeroin.com 5K starts and ends at Simon Kenton High School in Independence Kentucky. Race day fees are $30. Race begins at 7:00am. Join others in spreading awareness and increasing education about the heroin epidemic in Northern Kentucky.
June 8th Annual Conference 2014 Run for the Nets 5K at Devou Park in Covington, KY. This run benefits Imagine No Malaria and begins at 6:00pm. Race day fee is $35.
June 14th 1st Annual Crawl, Walk, and Run 5K at Erlanger Baptist Church in Erlanger, Kentucky supporting Lifelines Ministry. 9:00am-10:00am.
June 28th Hyde Park Blast to benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation and The Shemenski Foundation. Registration begins at 6:30am with races at 7:30am. Kids races are at 9:00am. This run starts just west of Hyde Park, winds through historic Hyde Park and winds through the square. The adult race is 4 miles. Kids races range from .1 mile to .5 mile depending on age groups. Please use the website to register, as spaces fill up quickly. Children can receive a UDF Chocolate milk, Busken cookie and medal for participating.
July 4th City of Edgewood Independence Day 5K in President’s Park in Edgewood Kentucky at 7:30am.
July 4th Run for Liberty 5K at Lakota East High School.
July 12th Immaculate Heart of Mary Summer Festival 5K at 8:00am in Burlington Kentucky.
July 4th 8:30am Pray~Hope~Believe 5k in Colerain Township. The Pray~Hope~Believe Foundation (PHBF) was established by Lynne and Rick Merk to honor the memory of Tony Merk – a 6-year-old boy who died on July 4, 2011 after an almost three-year battle with brain cancer. The PHBF provides funding for pediatric brain tumor research, supports children/teens who have a life-threatening condition, and honors the memory of Tony Merk through scholarships. PHBF primarily supports research conducted at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Register by July 1st. Entry fee is $25. Open to all ages.
July 4th Firecracker 5K 2014 and FREE kids fun run with the Campbell County YMCS. Register online at www.registrationspot.com. Runners, aged 12 and older, may sign up for the 5K. Kids, 12 and under, may sign up for the FREE Kids Fun Run. The course runs through Fort Thomas Kentucky and prizes are awarded for the most patriotic runners.
July 19th 8:30am – 9:30am Cincy Nation Rack Run with a Live Country Band after the race, BBQ food, and pink beer to support breast cancer research. Ault Park, Cincinnati Ohio.
July 26thRunning for Home at 8:30 am in Idlewild Park in Burlington Kentucky. This 5K assists adoption through financial grants.
August 9th Triple Crown 5K Fun Run and 1/2 Mile Kids’ Run 9:00am-10:00am at Triple Crown Country Club on Triple Crown Boulevard in Union Kentucky. Come run for your favorite charity! The charities represented by the largest group of registrants, the fastest male overall and the fastest female overall will each receive 1/3 of the proceeds.
October 25th The Great Pumpkin Run is back for it’s third season! Tackle the trails and conquer the corn maze with us on October 25 at Bonnybrook Farms. Wind through open fields, wooded paths and of course, the corn maze! After the race is over, kick back with a glass of cider and enjoy activities on the farm! Each registration includes an awesome t-shirt, a glass of cider, chip timing, a finisher’s medal and a pumpkin to take home with you! Think you’re tough? Register for our Tough Pumpkin option and carry a pumpkin with you throughout the run! Want to take on a whole different challenge? Register for the Hungry Pumpkin option and eat three slices of pumpkin pie right before running! Whatever you chose to do, it will be a run you’ll never forget.
