We love meeting our favorite authors, and we love blue manatee children’s bookstore & decafe, and we love The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. And we really love when those three things come together in one amazing event!
blue manatee and The Zoo are hosting best-selling author Carl Hiassen as he discusses and signs his new book for teens, Skink — No Surrender, on Sunday, September 28 at The Cincinnati Zoo! Here’s a little about the event from blue manatee:
An Afternoon with Carl Hiaasen will be hosted at The Zoo (3400 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220) on Sunday, September 28, 2014. During the event Hiaasen will discuss and sign his latest book, Skink – No Surrender. This is Hiaasen’s first book for teens, and features his well-known character “Skink” as he searches for a missing teenage girl named Malley.
Prevalent themes throughout Hiaasen’s books include preservation, conservation, and wildlife. Attendees will enjoy encounters with some of the Zoo’s famous furry, feathered, and scaly friends, maybe even some that have made appearances in Hiaasen’s books.
The signing will take place in the Zoo’s Peacock Pavilion from 3-5pm. Attendees can purchase discounted tickets to the Zoo for $9 from a blue manatee store on the Zoo’s website (http://bit.ly/cincyzootix). Additionally, the bookstore will have limited quantities of discount tickets for sale. Those who would like to have their book signed by Hiaasen must purchase a copy of Skink – No Surrender from blue manatee bookstore. Line numbers will be distributed on a first come first served basis and will be limited to 400 people. Only books purchased from blue manatee will be given a line number and will be signed at the event.
We think this sounds like a fantastic opportunity for you and your kids to meet a fantastic author and tie his wildlife and conservation themes to real life by sharing a lovely dat at The Zoo!
In addition, they are hosting a contest for the first FIVE spots in line! There’s nothing better than meeting one of your favorite authors and the only thing that beats that is being one of the first in line to do so! Check this out:
