Rachel DesRochers, the creator of Grateful Grahams and the Northern Kentucky Kitchen Incubator is joining forces once again with Ian Mathieu of Buffalo Wabs and the Price Hill Hustle to present the next big event under The Good People Festival name.
The Good People Festival was established in 2014 as a music, food, and arts event which benefited and took place at the Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center in Covington, Kentucky. Now, the same organizers look to honor and support their favorite public radio station, WNKU.
As WNKU prepares for its 30th iconic station’s commitment to live and local music. “Show Your Love” was therefore created as a 2-day musical event featuring over thirty acts from Greater Cincinnati and beyond. The event will take place February 20th and 21st at the legendary Southgate House Revival in Newport, Kentucky with all proceeds will benefitting WNKU.

Show Your Love will feature many of Greater Cincinnati’s most beloved local acts along with nationally-touring artists like Jason Wilber, Charlie Mars, and Will Kimbrough.
Jason Wilber has long been a staple of WNKU. Besides having a successful solo career and hosting the nationally-syndicated radio program, “In Search of a Song” (heard every Saturday morning on WNKU), Wilber’s played lead guitar for the likes of John Prine, Greg Brown, Iris DeMent, Todd Snider, and Hal Ketchum. He’s performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Grand Ole Opry, Mountain Stage, E-Town, Austin City Limits, and The Late Show with David Letterman.
Charlie Mars is a touring singer-songwriter and guitarist from Oxford, Mississippi. He’s been compared to Jason Mraz and Josh Rouse, and described as a tougher edged version of Jeff Buckley. His most recent CD, The Money, is a favorite on WNKU that led to him playing WNKU’s Studio 89 live concert series last year.
Will Kimbrough is a singer, songwriter, award-winning guitarist, and producer who has collaborated with some of the most respected musicians in the world including Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat, Rosanne Cash, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Gomez, Emmylou Harris, the Jayhawks, Mark Knopfler, Buddy Miller, John Prine, and Mavis Staples.
The local music scene is best represented with scheduled appearances by Cincinnati Entertainment Award winners’ The Cliftones, The Tillers, and 500 Miles to Memphis; blues guitar virtuoso, Noah Wotherspoon; local legend and lead singer of the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Noah Hunt; Ben Knight & the Well Diggers; The Newbees; and The Ready Stance among many others.
Bringing things full circle will be several acts from across the region that WNKU now serves with 105.9 and 104.1 – the signals acquired by the station in 2011. They include The Repeating Arms from Dayton, Ohio; BMV from Chillicothe; The Great Wide Open from Springfield, Ohio, and William Matheny from Huntington, W. Virginia to name a few.
Ian Mathieu who lined up over 30 artists and bands for this event said, “WNKU has done so much for me as not only a local musician, but also a music lover. WNKU supports so many local and up and coming artists, and this a great way for all of us to give back.”
Single day tickets for “Show Your Love” are $20 while tickets for both nights are just $30. Weekend VIP tickets are $50 and include admission to both nights along with a VIP pre-show reception on Saturday featuring food from the Northern Kentucky Incubator Kitchen and a private performance by Jason Wilber.
