Mark your calendars for the 2015 Ride Cincinnati bike event, happening Sunday, June 14. This is the 9th year for the ride, which benefits breast cancer research at the Barrett Cancer Center at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute.
Departing from Yeatman’s Cove, participants have the option of riding 63, 45, 26, 16 or 8 miles in the event. While there will not be kids-only ride this year, Ride Cincinnati has built on the popularity of the shorter 8 and 16 mile distances by making them completely closed-road courses. This is a perfect and safe option for families of all ages looking to enjoy a scenic ride along Eastern Avenue.
The new closed courses have been thoughtfully designed to create a fun, relaxing morning for the entire family, ending with an after-party celebration with entertainment for everyone. Participants will be able to enjoy 16 booths filled with Cincinnati foodie favorites including Skyline Chili, Funky’s Catering, Queen City Sausage, Vonderhaar’s Catering, Wesley Food Service and more.
In addition, kids will be able to enjoy a magic show, inflatable bounce house, face painters, balloon sculptors and the musical styling of DJ Dwaine.
For those interested in participating but don’t have a working bike or way to transport them to the event, Ride Cincinnati is thrilled to announce that it is partnering with Cincinnati Red Bike, which will be waiving overage fees for all participants. The nearest bike stations are located at Sawyer Point, Fountain Square and the Freedom Center. A day pass for a Red Bike on race day is $8.
What makes this race so unique- in addition to the family-friendly design of the course and epic after-party- is that all dollars raised go towards research that will benefit local families impacted by the devastating effects of breast cancer. To date, Ride Cincinnati has raised nearly two million dollars towards breast cancer research at the Barrett Cancer Center, which has been able to fund 34 projects, 5 of which are slated to occur this year.
Mark your calendar for June 14, pack up the kids, bring a helmet and enjoy the ride! Adult entry for any f the distances is $40 and includes the t-shirt and after party. Children’s entry is $15. More information and registration details can be accessed at: www.ridecincinnati.org.
