It’s no secret the weather hasn’t been great lately. It’s been rainy, cold, grey, and it’s January is upon us which means (maybe?) snow. Why not add some technicolor fun to your winter with THE WIZARD OF OZ at The Carnegie?
We love seeing shows at The Carnegie in Covington, and we couldn’t be more excited for THE WIZARD OF OZ. Part of why we’re looking forward to the show is because The Carnegie’s theatre department partnered with the gallery and education departments for the first time ever. The gallery brought in local artist Pam Kravetz to create the set, which will feel a bit more contemporary and playful than traditional sets. From the education department, four Camp Carnegie students are taking to the stage as munchkins and have the opportunity to learn from professional actors.
On top of that, The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra will provide the accompaniment to much-loved songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See The Wizard.” Adding even more fun to the show is a costume contest, happening at every matinee show. The Carnegie is encouraging attendees to come dressed in their best Wizard of Oz costume and the winner will receive a prize.
THE WIZARD OF OZ runs weekends January 21-31 and tickets are $30. For this show, The Carnegie has a special family ticket package. For every adult ticket purchased at full price, you can get two children’s tickets 1/2 off. Tickets are available through The Carnegie Box Office, open Tuesday through Friday, 12pm-5pm, online at www.thecarnegie.com, or by phone at (859) 957-1940.
