We recently celebrated my son’s birthday with dinner at the Pelican’s Reef in Cincinnati. I had not heard of this great seafood joint until I asked our Family Friendly Cincinnati Facebook Fans where to go for dinner and several people mentioned The Pelican’s Reef. I was looking for a non-chain restaurant that served fresh seafood in a family friendly atmosphere, and Pelican’s Reef was all that and more! Everyone was very happy with their meals, and the ambiance at the restaurant made us feel like we were closer to a beach instead of in Greater Cincinnati. The food at Pelican’s Reef was scrumptious (and they do offer non-seafood items as well) and the service was fantastic as well. I’m sure we will be heading back to the Pelican’s Reef many times in the future, as we are big fans of great seafood.
The Pelican’s Reef:
First I should mention that if you blink while driving down Beechmont Avenue you might just miss The Pelican’s Reef because it’s tucked away in a strip mall with a few other businesses and doesn’t really stand out as a restaurant.
The Pelican’s Reef offers a great selection on their Children’s Menu and it also serves as a great way to keep kids occupied at the table.
As I said, our food was great…we had quite a variety of seafood on the table, calimari, mussels, mahi mahi, shrimp and a few fish sandwiches.
Here’s the birthday boy with his shrimp & fries:
Nary a mussel was left at the end of the meal…
Do these pictures whet your appetite? Next time you are in the mood for seafood take the family to The Pelican’s Reef in Cincinnati. They are located at 7261 Beechmont Avenue and in addition to the restaurant they also have a bar upstairs that serves food as well, called The Reef Top.
