Local mom Lindsey O’Connell has come up with a super fun way to help her children learn key early learning concepts. She created “My Owl Pal”, which is a little plush owl who flies off to the forest each night and returns with a fun activity for young children to do during the day to help them learn such important things as their letters and numbers. My Owl Pal is like an Elf on a Shelf, but for learning. Lindsey thought that since her own children were getting so excited about learning thanks to My Owl Pal that she would like to produce more My Owl Pal book and plush sets to get them into the hands of more children and help boost early learning skills in more homes around the country and across the globe.
Armed with a background in education, Lindsey has written a book to tell the story of Jack, Mary Kate and their Owl Pal and even created an oath for children to take each night: “I pledge to you, my dear owl pal, to always do my best, to learn each thing that you will bring, while during the day you rest.” My Owl Pal sets include a plush owl and a sweet bedtime story for your child. The book will give resources for coming up with fun hands on learning activities for your children. There will also be online resources for families to use to find creative learning experiences.
Lindsey is working closely with various businesses and experts to plan the development and production of My Owl Pal, she just needs the funds to get the production started. That is where Kickstarter comes in. Lindsey has started a campaign to raise funds to start production, and those who pledge can even get their very own Owl Pal! If you have never used Kickstarter then here’s what you need to know: if the goal is not met then no money is collected. If the funding goal is met then the money is collected and the rewards are given in exchange for that pledge. So you are getting something for your money not just giving it away!
