The 10th annual Hopebox Derby, to benefit HealthPoint Family Care’s Healthcare for the Homeless program, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Wright’s Summit Business Park, corner of Kyles Lane and Dixie Hwy., in Fort Wright, Ky.
Thirty corporate car teams will compete for the 2017 trophy by racing soapbox cars they built and painted. Surrounding the race is a free, family-friendly festival that includes children’s games and activities, a car show, cornhole, food and beverages for purchase, and a raffle and silent auction.
Major sponsors are PNC Bank, St. Elizabeth, Schneider Electric and Chas. Seligman Distributing.
HealthPoint Family Care is a nonprofit, federally qualified healthcare facility that provides medical, dental, OB/GYN and behavioral health services in Northern Kentucky. Since 2008, the Hopebox Derby has raised almost $400,000 to help provide much needed healthcare to the homeless in Northern Kentucky.
Special events during the Hopebox Derby include:
- Open Car Show, with all vehicles welcome. $10 entry fee. Registration 10-11 a.m., show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Judges panel will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd Best of Show, plus trophies for People’s Choice and Car Owners’ Choice.
- Grand Prize raffle tickets at $10 each will be on sale at the event. The prizes are:
- 2 plane tickets to Chicago via Ultimate Air Shuttle
- 2 plane tickets to New York City via Ultimate Air Shuttle
The first drawn ticket will get choice of prizes.
