The Carnegie has opened registration for its spring 2018 ArtStop Artist Series workshops. This spring, The Carnegie will offer two classes for students ages 7-12, and new this year, The Carnegie has added a special pre-school class for students ages 4-6.
“We are excited to be offering ArtStop workshops for younger students this year, helping them to begin practicing their life-long skills of creative decision making and collaboration,” said Alissa Paasch, Education Director at The Carnegie.
The three eight-week class options will be led by teaching artists Jackie Smith and Sarah Rodriguez. Workshops will take place in the Eva. G. Farris Education Center at The Carnegie Saturdays March 17 – May 12.

Off the Page – NEW PRESCHOOL ARTS CLASS
Students ages 4-6

From the page to life, preschoolers will go beyond reading with the arts. Students will take inspiration from children’s books as they enjoy acting out characters, dancing, making up songs, and creating works of art.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
Photography Plus
Students ages 7-12
9:30-10:30am
Saturdays, March 17 – May 12, 2018 (no class March 31)
Students will enjoy dabbling in photography with The Carnegie iPads. Using a variety of art media, they will then embellish and transform their real life images into the surreal.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
Habitat for the Imaginary
Students ages 7-12
10:45-11:45am
Saturdays, March 17 – May 12, 2018 (no class March 31)
Join The Carnegie’s Habitat for the Imaginary and help build housing for local fantasy creatures. Students will combine art-making with gardening to design and construct a hidden village for gnomes, fairies, and trolls on The Carnegie grounds.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
All ArtStop Artist Series workshops end with a culminating experience for friends and family. Participants registering for more than one workshop will receive a $10 discount. Class size is limited and registration is required.
