Someone asked me recently what my favorite holiday tradition was, and I struggled to answer, because we do so many fun things around the holidays. The Behringer Crawford Museum‘s Holiday Toy Train Show is one of those activities! We take the kids every year around the holidays. I love how “hands on” the holiday train display is, the kids can manipulate 30 some buttons in the display. The train display is so detailed, we all inspect all the precious miniature people and places so closely. We notice new things in the display each year. They also have a cool scavenger hunt you can do while you check out the train display. And the engineers are on hand to keep the trains moving on schedule and to answer questions from visitors.
The Holiday Toy Train show is going on until January 13, 2013, and I suggest you take the family to check it out! The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children (free for members and discounted cost for large group, call for information), and after you visit the trains you can check out the rest of the museum. You wouldn’t want to leave without seeing the two-headed calf or the shrunken head! And my kids love the river boat area. While the holiday trains are only up for a short time, there is always a train display near the gift shop of the museum, and it is fun to see too. BCM is a hidden jewel of a museum. It’s small, rich with local history, and they have hands-on learning experiences for children throughout the museum. Our family has a membership and we love to visit whenever we can! An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a co-worker who had been conducting a little homework on this.
And he actually bought me breakfast due to the fact that
I stumbled upon it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this.
… Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending some
time to talk about this issue here on your internet site.

Just to let everyone know, we are keeping the trains running an extra week to thank the community for its support after our theft. The display will be in operation until January 23, 2011. Thank you for all the kind words and we hope that everyone stops out and visits BCM!

We took the boys for the first time this year. We had such a wonderful time. In addition to the train display there was lots of great information on our region. It was great!

This is on our list of things we want to do. Might have to check it out after Christmas – but looks like the trains are on display through party of Jan. so maybe we’ll do this over break.

You know what is sad? BCM is right by our house and we have never made it up there. Sounds like I need to get moving!
