My kids are BIG fans of Italian food, so they were pretty excited when we learned that BRAVO! Cucina Italiana, was opening a new location at the new Rookwood Exchange. The West Chester location had long been our go-go reward for surviving a trip to Costco. Living in NKY, the thought of just being able to pop over to Hyde Park for dinner (and skip the Costco trip) is very exciting.
The new Rookwood Exchange location is the third BRAVO! in the Cincinnati area (West Chester and Mason have locations). BRAVO! considers itself a family friendly “polished casual” restaurant offering classic Italian food amongst the shadows of Roman ruins. The subtitle “Cucina Italiana” means Italian kitchen. This means that all of the cooking is done in full view of the guest, which the kids loved.

During our visit over the weekend, I enjoyed the Chicken & Pesto Spaghettini which features grilled chicken, Mozzarella, spinach, tomatoes, pesto cream sauce ($11.79). For my son, the kids menu offered a variety of options, including lasagna, cheese & pepperoni pizzas, cheese ravioli and you can even “create your own,” which is great if you have a picky eater like I do.
For the grownups, a few more menu items that caught my eye at BRAVO! included the Chicken Milanese (Romano-crusted chicken breast, Mozzarella, Pomodoro sauce, herb pasta), the Grilled Chicken Marsala (mushroom Marsala wine sauce, Tuscan mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables), the Lobster Ravioli Alla Vodka (sautéed shrimp, tomato cream sauce, pesto bread crumbs) and then of course any of the pizzas. They also have a Lighter Side of Rome menu that offers many options at 595 calories or less.
